On October 27, Major League Baseball (MLB) player Yuli Gurriel, from the Houston Astros, made racist gestures to the opposing team pitcher Yu Darvish from the Los Angeles (LA) Dodgers.
During game 3 of the World Series, Player Yuli Gurriel offended Yu Darvish by pulling his eyes back, a racist gesture to show that he is Chinese. Yuli also said the word ¨chinito,¨ meaning “little China boy.”
The owner of the Astros, Jim Crane, let Gurriel continue to play, despite the slurs. The punishment will take place next season, due to the lack of games left in the season after the incident. Even next season, he will still play due to only being suspended for five games . People are outraged by the lack of punishment. The boos given during the third game of World Series were emphatic as he was caught on camera.
There are people mad at Gurriel whose reactions were more racist than he was. Troopa (A MLB commentator) stated,¨You smell like a burrito that I just shitted last night. You should NEVER play in America. GO BACK TO CUBA you stink spick.¨(Twitter)

The act that he committed wasn’t as the public set it out to be. The gesture was seen by many as if Gurriel were a villain. I don’t think it’s something so significant to justify saying  ¨kill yourself Yuli¨(Twitter). People shouldn’t get mad over this. People make mistakes, this was a small mistake was treated as if it had started a war. Yu Darvish even stated that he wasn’t angered about Gurriel’s gesture. He was disappointed at Gurriel from even thinking of making it the gesture. Nevertheless, people are still angry at Gurriel for something that has already been dealt with. Gurriel already got his punishment and said sorry, but the people are furious on the punishment.

We should stop getting angry over what a celebrity does. It doesn’t make sense to do so. Why worry over what other people do And the audience probably doesn’t know them personally. So why worry. Yes, people do look up to these stars but what Gurriel did was the slightest bit of nothing. This shouldn’t be something to sweat over.
