The Glenwood Springs girls’ tennis team has had a fairly steady start to the season so far.

Varsity participated in a triangular tournament on March 19. The Demons played the Steamboat Sailors at their home court, which resulted in an overall team loss of 4-3. They then attempted to play Aspen but unfortunately ran out of light.

On March 31, they took a trip to Steamboat, where the Demons pushed through and had a team win of 5-2. It’s safe to say that it was a happy bus ride home.

On April 1, both JV and Varsity participated in a match against Delta. The Demons took home a win of 5-2. All of the eager JV players got to participate in their first match of the season as well. Cate Williams, who is Doubles 4 partners with Amanda Madden, was awarded player of the match.

April 5, JV and Varsity got to compete in an extremely windy match against Vail, where they faced an unfortunate loss of 7-0. All the JV players fought very hard, but unfortunately, the wind blew their victory away.

April 8 and 9, Varsity traveled to Steamboat for a second time and competed in a tournament with Aspen, Centaurus, Golden, Steamboat Springs, and Vail Mountain. After the two-day tournament, they placed 4th.

The next match is April 12 in Basalt, weather permitting.
