After a long rest, the Grammy awards have finally returned in 2021 with a fresh look. This year the show was held at the STAPLES Center in California, but without their live audience due to COVID-19 restrictions. However, several nominees did attend and perform amongst each other as it was broadcasted around the world, hosted by Trevor Noah, a popular comedian and television host.

Harry Styles opened the show, performing his hit song ‘Watermelon Sugar’ off of his 2nd solo album; ‘Fine Line’. Billie Eilish performed after with her brother Finneas on piano, as well as family band ‘Haim’, DaBaby and Roddy Rich, Dua Lipa, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, Megan Thee Stallion with Cardi B performing their infamous single ‘WAP’, and Lionel Richie paying tribute to the late Kenny Rogers.

When it came time to announce the winners, the guests were sat at tables, socially distanced, with face masks to match their stunning outfits. Other stars were brought out to announce the winners, such as the Grammy award winner and singer of ‘Good as Hell’ Lizzo.

As for the winners themselves; Billie Eillish returned home victorious after winning Record of the Year for her single ‘everything I wanted’. Taylor Swift received her 11th Grammy and 3rd Best Album of the Year award for her 2020 album ‘Folklore’, followed by Song of the Year, rightfully won by H.E.R’s ‘I can’t breathe’ and Grammy opener Harry Styles took home his very first Grammy award for his hit ‘Watermelon Sugar’ for Best Pop Solo Performance. Other winners of the night include Megan Thee Stallion, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, James Taylor, Dua Lipa, Beyonce and her daughter Blue Ivy Carter and John Legend.

Overall, the 63rd Grammy award went smoothly, even with bumps in the road. Congratulations to the winners of the night, you all deserved it!
