Chiefs Win First Since 1970

2020 saw the Kansas City Chiefs take home their second Super Bowl Title and first since 1970. Led by young quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and a star pool of receivers such as Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill, the team was able to steamroll through their division and the playoffs in order to face the San Fran 49’ers. It was Kansas City’s ability to fight back against Nick Bosa and the 9’ers pass rush as well as the unanswered twenty-one points in the last 5 minutes of the game that sealed their victory as well as their amazing season.

LA Lakers Win Championship After Death Of Kobe

The death of Lakers legend Kobe Bryant left the entire sports world in complete and utter shock. Yet the team’s response to this tragedy is what would define them this year. Led by future HOF’er and debatable “Greatest Of All Time” Lebron James, Anthony Davis, and Kyle Kuzma the LA Lakers cruised to a 52-19 record. They then steamrolled the Trail Blazers, Rockets, and Nuggets en route to reach the championship. Once there they were able to defeat the Miami Heat 4-2 in the series and shut down the on-fire Tyler Herro.

Dodgers Win 1st World Series Since 1988

Seldom does a team have a fruitful streak of winning seasons and playoff berths whilst simultaneously have a disappointing streak of falling up short in winning a championship. For almost the past decade this has been the LA Dodgers who have consistently put a winning team on the field and have consistently fallen up short. But this year was different for LA, two years removed from having a World Series championship stolen from them by the Houston Astros, they picked up Red Sox MVP Mookie Betts in a move which was the sealing factor that they were the team that was meant to win it all this year. Led by the aforementioned Betts they also had a star studded offense and pitching staff led by headline stars Clayton Kershaw, Cody Bellinger, and Corey Seager. All of whom contributed heavily to their Championship Win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Dustin Johnson Wins 2020 Masters

This year history was made at the 2020 Masters, as the winner Dustin Johnson won the tournament by five strokes and finished an astonishing 20 under par for a score of 268 which is a new record for the Masters. Beating the old record of 270 held by Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth. This was DJ’s second major championship win, yet his first Masters win. As well as his 24th PGA Tour win and 14th consecutive season with a tournament win.

Tampa Bay Lightning Win Stanley Cup

One year removed from tying the NHL single season win record and an embarrassing early playoff exit at the hands of the last seed Columbus Blue Jackets, the Tampa Bay Lightning had a score to settle. A score that was the coveted Stanley Cup Trophy, led by debatably the best player in the league Nikita Kucherov and brick wall Andrei Vasilevskiy they fought to a 43-21-6 record which put them second in the NHL’s Atlantic Division. In the first round of the playoffs they laid waste to the Blue Jackets that handed them their first round exit the year prior. Then defeating the previous Eastern Conference winning Boston Bruins, before steamrolling the New York Islanders to reach the Dallas Stars. The series ended with the Lightning winning 4-2 and Victor Hedman winning the Conn Smythe Playoff MVP trophy.
