When it comes to hurdles, the Demons dominate the competition.

At the Colorado State Championships last weekend, Wyatt Ewer won a state championship by winning the 300-meter hurdle finals with a record time of 39.40 seconds. Fellow Demon Bryce Risner took second, just behind Ewer, finishing in 39.43.

The two had been battling for these positions for years, finally taking it their senior year. Through incredible practice, skill, and support for each other, they took the leads. They were so close, and that just shows how they worked together and pushed each other to the limits to become state champions.

“These guys ran together day after day after day,” said, coach Kishimoto

Ewer also exclaimed that his track experience was “bittersweet, that was my last 300-meter hurdle race, and I thought I was gonna lose but ever since football and basketball I love to come after people”

Ewer and Risner weren’t the only Demons making noise at the state meet.

A few other big places at the meet were Gavin Olson, who got 13th in the boys 100-meter dash, 12th in the 200 meter and seventh in the 400 meters, Kuba Bartnik, who got 19th in the boys 100 meters and 16th in the 200 meters. Gavin Hardin also got fourth in the 3,200-meter run and 10th in the 1,600 meters, Henry barth was close up with Hardin, getting ninth in the 3,200 meters.
