Girls basketball emerges victorious in back to back days

Last Friday night the Lady Demon’s basketball team played against school rival, the Rifle Bears at home in the Chavez-Spencer gym. The following day the Lady Demons played a non-conference home game against the Grand Junction Central Warriors.

The Glenwood Springs Lady Demons are 2-0 in league and 6-7 overall. Whereas Rifle is 1-1 in league and 1-8 overall. Their only win is against the Steamboat Sailors on Saturday January 12. Grand Junction Central has yet to play a league game but is 5-8 overall.

On Friday night’s game, Senior Ximena Gutierrez (32), lead the teams in deflections (7) and tied with Senior Logan Nieslanik (5), in rebounds (5).  Nieslanik also lead the team in assists (6) and charges (1). Senior Emily Worline lead the team in both 3-pointers made (5) and total points (17). Sophomore Maddie Moser (1) lead the team in steals (4). Moser also tied with Senior Ashley Barragan (4)  and Junior Qwynn Massie (23) in Free Throws made (2).

Friday night’s game ended with a score of 51-24.

Saturday afternoon the demons played the Warriors in a close game of 51-43. There were ups and downs to that game but in the end it was the Lady Demons who wanted it more in the end. (Stats soon to come)

The Lady Demons have a home conference game on Tuesday against the Eagle Valley Devils 4 at 6:00 pm.
