With the Glenwood Springs Lady Demon coming in as underdogs, they didn’t take on the Eagle Valley Devils laying down.

Tuesday, October 10 the Glenwood Springs Lady Demon Volleyball team, ranked 35 in the Colorado 4A Volleyball league, took on Eagle Valley Devils, ranked 13, at  Chavez-Spencer gym

Eagle Valley came into Glenwood expecting to see a win. Little did they know that Glenwood was not the same team that they played last month. Glenwood took wins over Palisade, Summit, and Rifle. Glenwood was also coming off a close game against Steamboat where Glenwood got beat. Glenwood was determined not to let that happen again.

For Glenwoods offense, Ashley Emery recorded 11 kills and 3 blocks. Kaitlyn Johnson recorded 9 kills and 2 blocks.  Shanik Zambrano recorded 8 kills and 2 serving aces. Emily Nilsson recorded 34 assists and 3 serving aces.

On the defensive side, Zambrano recorded 24 digs and 14 serve receptions. Baylee Johnson recorded 15 digs and 19 serve receptions. Alley Rosenmerkel recorded 14 digs and 16 serve receptions.

Reese Goluba is coming off of an injured ankle that happened Monday, October 8 at practice. Goluba played one set and had 2 assists and had 1 kill. Goluba is expected to play in Thursday’s game against Summit.

With the Colorado 4A Volleyball playoffs coming up, every win counts. With the Eagle Valley upset Glenwood is ready to get a better seed for the playoffs.
